GCUTers won a national first prize in the 2nd National Business Data Analysis (Business Data Analysis and Application Direction) Competition of the 2024 Belt & Road and BRICS Skills Development & Technology Innovation Competition

The 2nd National Business Data Analysis (Business Data Analysis and Application Direction) Competition of the 2024 Belt & Road and BRICS Skills Development & Technology Innovation Competition was held in Shenzhen City Polytechnic from October 19 to 20. Chen Siqi and Guo Xiaomin majoring in Business Administration as well as Zhong Shixiang majoring in Big Data Management and Application from the School of Management of Guangzhou City University of Technology (GCUT) won the national first prize (Undergraduate Group) guided by their instructors, Liang Lili and Guan Weilong. GCUT awarded the Prize for the Best Organization (Undergraduate Group) while related instructors won the Outstanding Instructor Award.

The competition was jointly held by the BRICS Business Council, Belt and Road & BRICS International Alliance for Skills Development (IASDB) and China Center for International People-to-people Exchange of the Ministry of Education, which consists of two stages, namely, national qualification trial and national final. Regarding the Undergraduate Group, there were 221 teams participating in the competition nationwide. Ranking the 7th among all teams, the team from GCUT was invited to compete for the national final with other 40 teams, in which the team won the national first prize.

The national final focuses on the scenario simulation of data analysis on actual enterprises, combining the sensitiveness about business problems, competence of business data analysis, problem-solving skills and teamwork spirits. Participants need to complete an analysis report based on related business data, give presentation to judges and deliver an oral defense, through which can fully test the professional competence and literacy of participants.
