The library of Guangzhou City University of Technology (GCUT) held a gift-sending activity for students who are about to take national postgraduate entrance exam at the hall on the first floor on the afternoon of December 10 in order to show concerns for these students, encourage them to keep high morale, conquer their anxiety and reduce their pressure in the final stage of the exam.

The library witnessed a sea of faces that day. Students who are about to take national postgraduate entrance exam came here to collect exquisite cultural and creative products from a stand set on the first floor with their screenshot of registering for the exam while leaving their best wishes for themselves or others. Key rings with sunflower symbolize “writing with confidence and smoothness, and besting the test in one fell swoop ” while those with persimmon imply “everything goes well and smoothly”. Moreover, the library also prepared delicate notebooks with best wishes such as “getting in”, carrying the belief that they could have their way in the exam. A total of 150 notebooks and 260 stuffed pendants were sent.

The activity also attracted other students to take part in, who sent their sincere wishes for such examinee through reposting related posts. These heart-warming sentences leave their encouragement for their senior schoolmates, hoping that they could get what they desire in the exam. It also shares their warmth and care for these students.

The activity not only provides a platform where every examinee can support each other, but enables them to feel concerns and warmth from the university and their schoolmates. They said that they would treasure such encouragement and support, which helps them to deal with the incoming exam with enthusiasm and confidence.

One of the student assistants whose surname is Xiao stated that it is often the case that these senior schoolmates who will take national postgraduate entrance exam work hard for their dream university day after day with persistence, which can be seen every time Xiao is on duty in the library. Xiao planned the activity with the team of student assistants, hoping to show support for them through such subtle move in the final stage. Regarding the choice of gifts, they decided on practical and memorable gifts such as notebooks over investigation and comparison based on practical values and meanings. They were deeply moved by the fact that their senior schoolmates took an active part in the activity as well as their sincerity when they sent their wishes. They expected that their senior schoolmates who are about to take national postgraduate entrance exam could achieve satisfactory results.

A participant shared that he was touched by the activity held by the library since the journey towards national postgraduate entrance exam is always alone, such special activity makes him feel that he is in company. Each heart-warming gift and each paper written with best wishes are full of best of luck and encouragement. “It is so stressful during the preparation for the exam that I will always get anxious and self-doubting especially when it comes to the final stage. I feel warm to receive the wonderful gift and see the wishes stuck to the exhibition panel, which helps to support me to keep moving. I believe that every effort I have made along the journey will eventually turn out to be steps closer to success. I will be brave enough to overcome difficulties ahead to accept the final challenge of the journey.”

It is introduced that the activity is held the fifth time for the examinee by the library this year, which aims to enhance their confidence in the final stage of the exam. The library not only prepares meaningful gift for these students, but also set a exhibition wall of wishes that enables other students to leave their wishes and encouragement for these students. In this way, it supports them to pursue their dream and maintain motivation in learning, thus encouraging them to stay in a good mood with keeping study-life balance, and finally achieve what they desire. The library will continue to accompany students who will take national postgraduate entrance exam with love and concern in the future throughout their preparation for the exam.
